Editorial

How we review, and when we get paid

Two kinds of listing

Everything on this site is labelled as one of two things.

Full reviews. These are written by an editor. We sign up or use the free tier, run real tasks, and record pricing, data handling and limitations. We do not publish a full review for a tool we have not used.

Industry index entries. Everything else. These are tools we track so you can find and compare them, compiled from public product information rather than first-hand testing. They may have changed since we last checked, so each one links to the official site and each says plainly on its page that it has not been reviewed yet.

What we record

  • What the free tier actually allows, not what the marketing page implies.
  • Where your data goes, and whether the tool works without an account.
  • Whether the service is reachable from mainland China, and how stable that is.
  • Platforms, pricing model and approximate starting price at review time.

Prices change

Pricing is a screenshot of a moving target. We record the date of each review and update entries when pricing changes significantly. Always confirm the current price on the official site before you pay.

Ratings are our opinion

Scores reflect a single editor's experience with a tool on typical tasks. They are deliberately not aggregated user scores, and we do not publish aggregate ratings for search engines because self-awarded scores are meaningless to readers.

Affiliate disclosure

Some "Visit official site" links are affiliate links, marked with an Affiliate link label. If you sign up through one, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Commissions never influence ratings, placement or what we write — entries are added or removed on editorial merit alone, and paid placement is not sold.

How often things change

Entries are reviewed on a rolling basis. Featured picks are refreshed weekly; pricing is verified at least quarterly per entry or when a reader reports a change. See the changelog for what changed recently.

Corrections

We get things wrong. Email us and we will correct factual errors promptly and note the correction.
