How to use it
- Enter operand A and operand B as non-negative integers from 0 to 4294967295.
- Pick an operation: AND, OR, XOR, left shift, right shift, or NOT.
- The result appears in decimal, hexadecimal (0x form) and 32-bit binary.
- The alignment panel shows A, B and the result one bit per column, grouped in eights.
- For NOT, only A is used and B is ignored.
Common use cases
- Learning and teaching - see exactly which bits survive an AND or flip in an XOR.
- Flag and permission work - combine, test or clear bit flags used by APIs and file formats.
- Networking and protocols - check subnet masks, header fields and packed values.
- Embedded and low-level code - verify shift results before writing them into source code.
Why it stays private
Every operation is a single JavaScript bitwise expression evaluated in your browser. Nothing is uploaded, nothing is stored, and the page makes no network requests after it loads.
FAQ
Q: Are values treated as signed or unsigned? A: Unsigned 32-bit. NOT therefore turns 0 into 4294967295, and results never show a negative sign.
Q: What happens with shift amounts above 31? A: JavaScript masks shift counts to their lower 5 bits, so shifting by 32 acts like shifting by 0. The alignment panel notes the effective count that was applied.
Q: Can I enter hexadecimal input? A: Operands accept decimal only. Convert a hex value with any base converter first, then paste the decimal number here.
Your data stays on this device
Bitwise Calculator runs 100% locally. Everything you paste or drop is processed by your own browser and never transmitted. Nothing is stored on our servers — close the tab and it is gone.
Nothing you type is sent to a server, logged, or used for analytics. The page works even with your network disconnected after first load.
