CSS Filter Generator

Stack eight CSS filter functions on a live preview and copy the filter string.

Live preview

The preview uses a built-in gradient placeholder. Apply the same filter string to your own image to get the identical result.

Generated CSS

How to use it

  1. Drag any of the eight sliders. The preview updates as you move, so you can judge the look before copying anything.
  2. Start from a Preset when you want a direction: vintage adds sepia and pulls saturation down, monochrome goes fully gray, cool tone rotates the hue.
  3. Re-adjust any slider after applying a preset; the preset only sets starting values.
  4. Copy the generated filter declaration. Only functions that differ from their neutral value are written out, so the string stays short.
  5. Apply the same string to your own image. The preview uses a gradient placeholder, but the filter math is identical.

Common use cases

Why it stays private

The filter is applied by your browser to a locally drawn gradient. Your own images are never uploaded because there is no upload step at all.

FAQ

Q: Why does the output skip some functions? A: Functions sitting at their neutral value, such as brightness(100%), change nothing. They are left out so the declaration stays readable.

Q: Can I apply this to a video or a whole section? A: Yes. The filter property works on any element, including video, canvas and containers, though blurring a large area costs more to paint.

Q: Does the order of functions matter? A: It does. Filters apply left to right, so grayscale before sepia gives a different result than the reverse. The generated string keeps a fixed order, so reorder it deliberately if you need to.
