.gitignore Generator

Pick the languages and tools your project uses and get a merged .gitignore to download.

Templates

Generated .gitignore

How to use it

  1. Tick every language, framework or operating system your project touches.
  2. The merged .gitignore builds below as you select, with duplicate lines removed and each section labeled by a comment.
  3. Copy the result, or download it as a file named .gitignore.
  4. Clear all selections and start over whenever you like.

Common use cases

Why it stays private

Selection and merging happen entirely in the page. No repository is read, no file is uploaded - you paste nothing sensitive here at all.

FAQ

Q: Are the templates complete for each ecosystem? A: They cover the entries that cause the most accidental commits: build outputs, dependency folders, caches and OS noise. Specialized tools may add their own entries; append them after downloading.

Q: What does the deduplication do? A: Identical lines shared by several templates appear once. Negation lines like !keep/this are treated like any other line, so check the output when two templates disagree about the same folder.

Q: Can I suggest or edit templates? A: The built-in list is fixed inside the tool, but the output is plain text - edit it freely after copying.

Your data stays on this device

.gitignore Generator runs 100% locally. Everything you paste or drop is processed by your own browser and never transmitted. Nothing is stored on our servers — close the tab and it is gone.

Nothing you type is sent to a server, logged, or used for analytics. The page works even with your network disconnected after first load.
