HTML Formatter
Beautify or minify HTML with tag-aware parsing; script and style content stays untouched.
How to use it
- Paste HTML into the left panel - a full document or a fragment both work.
- Pick the mode: Beautify adds line breaks and two-space indentation; Minify strips whitespace and comments.
- Click Convert, or keep typing - the result refreshes as you edit.
- Use Copy or Download to take the result with you.
Common use cases
- Cleaning up copy-pasted markup - re-indent templates from docs, emails or legacy pages so they are readable again.
- Shipping lighter pages - strip indentation, blank lines and comments before deploying static HTML.
- Reviewing diffs - consistent indentation makes HTML diffs show real changes instead of whitespace noise.
- Inspecting third-party snippets - expand a minified widget or ad tag to see what it actually loads.
Why it stays private
Parsing and re-emitting happen entirely in your browser. Your markup, including any API keys or internal URLs inside it, never leaves your device.
FAQ
Q: What happens to script and style contents? A: They are preserved verbatim. The formatter treats script, style, pre and textarea as raw text containers, so code inside them is never re-indented or broken.
Q: Does minification remove all comments? A: Regular comments are removed; conditional comments used by old Internet Explorer are kept, because removing them could break legacy fallbacks.
Q: Is this a full HTML validator? A: No. The parser is tolerant and will not reject malformed input, but it does not check tag nesting rules or schema. Run a dedicated validator when you need strict compliance.
Your data stays on this device
HTML Formatter runs 100% locally. Everything you paste or drop is processed by your own browser and never transmitted. Nothing is stored on our servers — close the tab and it is gone.
Nothing you type is sent to a server, logged, or used for analytics. The page works even with your network disconnected after first load.
