MAC Vendor Lookup
Normalize any MAC address format and look up its vendor from an offline OUI table.

How to use it
- Paste a MAC address in any format:
00:1B:63:84:45:E6,00-1B-63-84-45-E6,001b.6384.45e6, or even a bare hex string. - The tool strips separators and shows the normalized
XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XXform. - The vendor card matches the first three bytes against the built-in OUI table of about 40 common vendors.
- The flags card reports the unicast/multicast bit and the universal/local administration bit.
- If the prefix is not in the table, the result honestly says "unknown" — it does not guess.
Common use cases
- Identifying devices on a router — turning a client list of MACs into brand names to find unknown hardware.
- Checking virtual machines — recognizing VMware, Hyper-V, QEMU or VirtualBox prefixes in a network.
- Cleaning up inventories — normalizing MACs written in mixed formats into one canonical form.
- Spotting spoofed addresses — locally-administered bits on a "laptop" are worth a second look.
Why it stays private
The OUI table ships with the page and matching is a six-character lookup in your browser. There is no online API call — the result works with the network disconnected, and no address you type ever leaves the page.
FAQ
Q: How complete is the vendor table? A: It is a curated table of about 40 widely seen vendors, not the full IEEE registry. Unlisted prefixes are shown as unknown instead of a wrong guess.
Q: Why does my device show "unknown" even though it is a known brand? A: Large vendors own many OUI blocks, and the built-in table only carries a few common ones per vendor. Also, locally-administered addresses deliberately avoid vendor prefixes.
Q: Can I enter a partial MAC? A: Yes — the first three bytes (six hex digits) are enough for an OUI lookup and flag detection. Anything shorter than six digits is rejected.
Your data stays on this device
MAC Vendor Lookup runs 100% locally. Everything you paste or drop is processed by your own browser and never transmitted. Nothing is stored on our servers — close the tab and it is gone.
Nothing you type is sent to a server, logged, or used for analytics. The page works even with your network disconnected after first load.
