Stopwatch
A stopwatch with lap timing, fastest and slowest lap markers, and a millisecond precision display.
00:00.000
How to use it
- Press Start; the big display counts up with milliseconds.
- Press the same button to pause, and again to resume from where you stopped.
- While running, press Lap to record the current lap; the list shows each lap duration.
- With two or more laps, the fastest and slowest laps are labeled automatically.
- Reset clears the time and the lap list; Copy puts the lap list on your clipboard.
Common use cases
- Workouts and intervals: timing laps around a track or between exercises.
- Cooking: watching multiple stages without writing times down.
- Meetings and talks: pacing a rehearsal and spotting long sections.
- Games and puzzles: friendly competition with an honest record.
Why it stays private
The stopwatch uses your browser clock and nothing else: no network, no history, no storage: resetting really erases everything. One honest note: browser timers are not hard-real-time; the millisecond digits are computed from the system clock, so expect a few milliseconds of display jitter rather than laboratory precision.
FAQ
Q: How accurate are the milliseconds? A: The display is derived from the system clock (Date.now), so totals are trustworthy to a few milliseconds, but the browser update loop adds small display jitter. For certified timing, use dedicated hardware.
Q: What do the fastest and slowest labels mean? A: With at least two laps recorded, each lap's duration (from the previous lap to this one) is compared; the shortest lap is marked fastest and the longest slowest.
Q: Does pausing count as a lap? A: No. Pause simply freezes the running total. Lap times are only recorded when you press Lap while the stopwatch is running.
Your data stays on this device
Stopwatch runs 100% locally. Everything you paste or drop is processed by your own browser and never transmitted. Nothing is stored on our servers — close the tab and it is gone.
Nothing you type is sent to a server, logged, or used for analytics. The page works even with your network disconnected after first load.
