Text Gradient Generator
Pick color stops and an angle, preview gradient text and copy the CSS in one click.
Text
Color stops
Stops are painted in order along the angle: the first stop starts the gradient and the last stop ends it. Four swatches are provided so you can keep the ones you need.
Preview
The CSS uses -webkit-background-clip: text with color: transparent, the standard way to paint gradient text. It works in all current browsers; older ones fall back to the first stop color.
How to use it
- Type the sample text and set the font size in pixels.
- Pick colors for the four stops. They are painted in order along the gradient line, so stop 1 starts and stop 4 ends.
- Set the angle in degrees: 0 runs bottom to top, 90 runs left to right, 180 runs top to bottom.
- Watch the preview update on every change, then press Generate CSS and copy the stylesheet plus the HTML snippet.
Common use cases
- Hero headlines - gradient the main headline of a landing page without touching the build.
- Logo lockups - try brand colors on a wordmark before exporting assets.
- Social banners - match a gradient used in a cover image to the matching web headline.
- Teaching CSS - show how background-clip: text and color: transparent work together.
Why it stays private
The generator is plain client-side JavaScript: color inputs build a linear-gradient string and apply it to a preview span. No styles are sent anywhere, and the tool works offline.
FAQ
Q: How does gradient text work in CSS? A: The gradient is set as the element background, then background-clip: text clips it to the shape of the letters, and color: transparent makes the real text color invisible so the background shows through.
Q: What happens in a browser that does not support it? A: Current browsers all support the standard properties. In older engines the text simply keeps its own color, which is why the stylesheet keeps a plain color: transparent rule that degrades to solid text copies.
Q: Can I use more than two colors? A: Yes. CSS gradients accept any number of stops. Four pickers are provided so you can build a two, three or four stop gradient with the same output.
Q: Is the gradient saved as an image? A: No. The output is pure CSS, so the text stays selectable, searchable and crisp at any zoom level.
