FAQ

Q: How is the split handled when the total does not divide evenly? A: Everyone pays the whole-cent floor amount and one person covers the remainder cents, so the money collected matches the total exactly instead of drifting by a cent.

Q: Is the tip calculated before or after tax? A: The tool applies the rate to the amount you type. If your custom is to tip on the after-tax total, enter that total.

Q: How is the tip itself rounded? A: The bill is converted to cents and the tip is rounded to the nearest cent, so a 15% tip on 84.50 is 12.68 rather than 12.675.

Q: Can I use it without a tip? A: Yes. Set the rate to 0 to split the plain bill, or set people to 1 to see a single payer's total.
