AI reading insights from your Kindle highlights

Visit official site

What Unearthed is

A second life for your reading highlights. Highlights pile up on a Kindle and are rarely revisited; Unearthed syncs them out automatically and applies AI analysis to surface the ideas you have forgotten.

Because it is open source and does not require Amazon credentials, the sync path avoids handing over account access, and results export into the note systems readers already use.

What you can do with it

  • Auto sync highlights from Kindle and KOReader
  • Let AI analysis surface forgotten insights and blind spots
  • Chat with your books through your highlights
  • Sync outputs to Notion, Obsidian, Capacities or Supernotes
  • Self-host or use the hosted version

Who it is for

  • Heavy readers with years of accumulated highlights
  • Note-taking system users in Obsidian and Notion
  • Privacy-conscious readers avoiding credential sharing
  • Open-source users who want self-hosting options

What to watch out for

  • AI insights are interpretations; reread the source passages for real understanding
  • Sync scope and storage should be reviewed even without credentials
  • Chat answers derive from highlights, so coverage is limited to what you marked
  • Open-source projects depend on ongoing maintenance
